“For God did not give us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
When you feel that fear…. it’s not from God. Fear is a waste of your precious time and energy my friend. Fear is the number one thing that holds people back from living the life they were designed to thrive in and in my experience “gym phobia” is one of the biggest obstacles for women just starting out in their lifestyle change.
Some of the common fears I hear from women are:
“ I’m afraid everyone’s going to be watching me and how out of shape I am.”
“I don’t know what to do and I’m afraid I can’t keep up.”
“I have some preexisting injuries and I’m afraid I’ll hurt myself.”
“I’m afraid of bulking up and looking like a man.”
“I’m afraid I won’t be able to face how out of shape I am.”
“I’m afraid of the pain and I’m scared I may throw up.”
“I don’t know what to do and I’m afraid I’ll look stupid.”
Sweet friend, if this is you please stop letting fear control your life. FIGHT IT. Do whatever you have to do to get away from the spirit of fear and into a spirit of power love, and self-discipline.
Now, it’s been my complete honor to train with and learn from Christy Harper, owner and head trainer of Crossfit318. She so graciously has allowed Crossfit318 to be the new home for my clients and it was my privilege to do this interview with her on overcoming gym intimidation. In it we answer and address the most common fears we hear on a weekly basis and provide support and encouragement. I teach all of my online and in person clients from a Crossfit model so this opportunity was so timely and perfect!
