Own Your Power
Ok it’s 2015. Another year has come and gone and I’m reflecting back on the lessons learned along the way. It’s at this time of year that I schedule meetings with myself and actually document everything that did happen and look for ways to be thankful and ways to grow. When we do this we find that God is working in everything and although we can’t control what happens to us in a world of free will, broken people, and broken situations we CAN control how we react to them. You see, you were created by God to be a powerful individual. Why else would he have given you a free will? Your power to choose and to decide is the most powerful thing in the universe after God and the world is where it is today because of the DECISIONS that it’s people made. Please understand, we are where we are today because of the decisions we have made. Every. Single. One.
It’s time we own that power and stop viewing “power” as a negative prideful term. Many people love to shout out the “I’m just a powerless sinner” mantra because it sounds super Christian and humble. All the while Satan is laughing in the shadows. No my friend, if you are child of God and have accepted him in your heart and are choosing to love him and follow him then you have within you something called RESSURECTION power inside you. It’s true that you are powerless WITHOUT HIM and without a true relationship but if you choose to stay connected to him and you understand where the power comes from, you will live a full and whole life! You are meant to be a powerful person. Capable of changing and capable of living the life you were meant to. Why would God not want his children equipped and powerful? He has given us each and assignment and the power to complete it.
Own your power.
So, I challenge you to get out your journal or notepad and look back to January of last year and write down a bullet list of milestones, events, accomplishments, tragedies, and failures. Then ask yourself some questions:What made this past year special? What made it suck? What worked? What didn’t?When did I feel the most at peace and confidant? What did I overcome? How am I stronger? How am I weaker? What did I learn?
Then, ask yourself two of the most important questions you can ever ask yourself.
Where am I right now emotionally, physically, financially, spiritually, socially, professionally, and with my family?
What am I honestly WILLING TO CHANGE about it?
You can buy every planner, career map, gym membership, personal trainer, nutritionist, supplement, life coaching session, and self help book on goal setting and success but until you make up your mind to really do something and really change then you won't. My encouragement to you is that 2015 is the year for you to own your power and make the changes you want to. Once you really decide deep down you WILL do it. Never doubt the power of the human mind to think and decide for it is the greatest power you have.
Decide. Own Your Power.
