I was thinking about you this morning and wondering if you ever felt how I sometimes do, especially around this time of year. I’m performance driven and a doer by nature. I want everything to be perfect and done right the first time…and FAST.
Sometimes I live with a constant sense of urgency that my life is passing me by and I panic if I haven’t completed my To Do list by noon. God has dealt with me on this issue and basically told me to take a chill pill so I can rest enough to hear his voice. He has told me to work smarter and to rest in him. Resting doesn’t mean not doing anything or neglecting my responsibilities. It means quieting my life and mind so I can hear him.
It’s been difficult for me but I know without a shadow of a doubt that when I’m obedient the blessing always comes. I had to take some time and write down some things in my journal. Basically, I had a staff meeting with myself and had to give myself permission to rest. These staff meetings aren’t always pretty but I highly recommend you sit down and have one with yourself.
What do you need to let go of and give to God?
What do you need to sit down and write yourself a permission slip for?
If you’re not sure about this I took the liberty of writing you one to get you started. Here goes:
You don’t have to be everything to everybody. You don’t have to please everyone and you don’t have to live up to anyone’s standards. You don’t have to perform and you don’t have to look a certain way, act a certain way, or dress a certain way. You don’t have to worry about offending anyone because of your goals or the changes you’re making. You don’t have to worry about letting anyone down or being the perfect mom, perfect wife, perfect friend, perfect anything. You don’t have to worry about being judged or slandered or gossiped about.
It’s OK to say thank you when someone compliments you.
It’s OK to ask for help.
It’s OK to say NO.
It’s OK to say YES.
It’s OK to think you are beautiful.
It’s OK to allow yourself to be loved and it’s OK to love others.
It’s OK to relinquish control.
It’s OK to not have it all together every waking moment of every day.
It’s OK to be transparent and it’s OK to guard your heart.
It’s OK to believe in you and it’s OK to dream big.
IT’s OK to be different than everyone else. It’s OK to invest in yourself and take time just for you to renew.
It’s OK to sleep in sometimes.
It’s OK to take a whole day off and go shopping sometimes .
It’s OK to take 30 min to get a pedicure for goodness sake.
It’s OK for you to sacrifice comfort for destiny.
It’s OK for you to give up to go up and it’s OK to never settle for mediocrity, struggle, or bondage.
It’s OK for you to cry.
Most of all, it’s OK for you to come to grips with the fact that because you are a dearly loved treasure of the most high God you are in fact, ROYALTY.
This means you are destined for greatness, signs and wonders. This means that to whom much is given much is required and you are equipped in every way. It means you make decisions and choices from that position. Any other behavior and thought process is not the real you.
Today, I give you permission to understand who you really are and what you’re really capable of.
When you really believe this to the core of your heart is when real transformation occurs. Have that staff meeting and live your life to the fullest.
Permission is granted today my friend.
