Today I want to talk with you about how you see yourself. Do me a favor right now and go into your bathroom or wherever your mirror is. Do you have a full length one? I know there’s a chance you’ve given up on full length mirrors in general, so just find the biggest one you have. Now, what and more importantly WHO, do you see when you look in that mirror? What’s the one thing that pops in your head?
I know what just popped in your head many not be so accurate. Please hear me my lovely one. If you are in Christ, YOU are a daughter of the most high God. YOU are a new creation. You are cherished, loved, and highly valued. YOU are transformed and being trained up for kingdom purposes. That body of yours is a TEMPLE. A gift. An instrument of God.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. This is true regardless if you FEEL like you are not. Remember, living a truly fit life encompasses that you walk out in truth. Not what you feel. Because what you feel isn’t always true. Your emotions can lie to you. Why do you think the enemy is constantly appealing to them?
Now, there are going to be things about your body you may not care for right now. Cellulite, stretch marks, and bat wings royally tick me off, but I do not allow those things to define who am. I know this can be hard. Especially, in a world and culture that defines women by airbrushed, and barely clothed, genetic phenoms. The fastest way for you to be miserable is to start comparing yourself to others. You focus on YOUR progress and YOUR journey. All of our temples look a little different. Cherish and take care of yours. This is YOUR gift to use. One day at a time. One victory at a time. Guess what? You are already victorious. The bible tells us so. That is the truth you must base your life on. Whether you’re in the midst of the toughest workout of your life, saying no to a plate of brownies, or battling defeating thoughts, YOU ARE THE VICTOR. Fight the battle with confidence and strength. You are a creation of God. I believe if we fully understood this then our world would be a different place. It applies to EVERY ASPECT of your life.
1 Corinthians 15:57
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”
So look back in that mirror and start believing, speaking, and walking out in who and what God says you are. I know I’m being bossy, but this is crucial in your transformation process. Value yourself as a creation of God and a temple of his spirit to invest in the strengthening and proper care of it. This isn’t prideful or arrogant. It’s only vanity if you take God out of the equation. God want’s his daughters confident. Confident in him working through us. Being humble doesn’t mean you are constantly degrading and condemning yourself. You stay humble by knowing that it’s only through Jesus that you are here and being used by him. It’s knowing you must remain in him to function. You are confident in what he will do through you. Not what you will do through you. He also gives us free will. Free will to take care of ourselves. Get equipped. If you’re in Christ, temple maintenance must become a part of your life. I’m here to help.
If you don’t have one already, go get that full length mirror sister. We’ve got some training to do.
