It’s difficult for me to imagine what it must have been like…all the blood, and screaming, the tears and the pain. Fists pounding against flesh as every ounce of innocence was stripped away from her. What once was a joyful little girl has now become a hollow heap of ashes on the floor. The grooming process is over. What she thought was love has turned into a demonic display of rage and shame. Prince charming was no such thing. Turns out he’s a pimp. Who is she now but his? Because no little girl decides she wants to be a prostitute when she grows up.
How did this happen? Who has she become? She thought she was safe. She thought she was cool. All she wanted was family and someone to love her and tell her she was beautiful. More beautiful than the rest. The game enticed her and she got addicted to the compliments, to the attention and the power. Because to the hungry, even what is bitter tastes sweet.
Now drugs numb the pain and she wonders what her purpose is. Everyone seems to know who and what she is but her. It’s her against the world and no one understands. Her mind is the prison and oh where is this God? This Jesus who loves and saves? She thought his people would be more like him. This thing called love.
She would go back if she could. That one night. That one hit. That one yes. That one more time she would let him try to change.
A little girl in a heap of ashes on the floor.
She is one of many. A sex worker, a hooker, a stripper, a prostitute, a trick, a ho, a bottom girl, a drug addict-OH WAIT BUT NO…..She’s a daughter, a sister, a mother, a niece, a friend. What a beautiful thing when we stop and look within. Let’s be real. Let’s be honest. Sin is sin and we are no better than her. She is ONE of many and she matters. If Jesus stops for her than we should too. It’s amazing how miracles happen when we choose to get uncomfortable.
Today, I choose to RISE UP and fight for the one. Because we were all once a little sheep lost….
I realize that no one can do everything but everyone can do something. From now until April 11th all proceeds from the Rise Up weightlifting belt will go to the anti trafficking efforts of Project 41. Click here to support Project 41.
*Project 41 is a non-profit organization that seeks to Rescue, Value, & Transform women in the sex industry and victims of sex trafficking. The desire of Project 41 is to love women the way Jesus would, teaching them that they are enough, showing them that they have been created by God for a beautiful purpose and walking them to a healthy life both physically and spiritually. Through outreach, friendship, and biblical community Project 41 wants to lead women to full restoration in Christ. Just like the lost sheep in Luke 15:1-7 her life and her soul matter to God. He is for her. He is for the one.
